It asks a harder question: what happens after Earth Day ends? The choices made in homes\, workplaces\, classrooms\, and communities carry more weight than speeches or social posts. Earth Day 2026 draws attention to the power people already use every day—and how that power can either protect the planet or quietly damage it.\n\n\n\nIn Canada\, Earth Day increasingly includes Indigenous worldviews\, which emphasize:\n\n\n\n\nRespectful relationships with the land\n\n\n\nInterconnectedness of all living things\n\n\n\nResponsibility to future generations\n\n\n\nLand-based learning and traditional ecological knowledge\n\n\n\n\nFor many Indigenous Peoples\, caring for the Earth is not a single day\, but a way of life practiced year-round. Earth Day can be an opportunity to acknowledge this and to engage in reconciliation through learning and action.\n\n\n\nSimple Ways to Observe Earth Day\n\n\n\n\nSpend time outdoors and connect with nature\n\n\n\nReduce waste (reuse\, repair\, recycle)\n\n\n\nPlant native species or pollinator-friendly plants\n\n\n\nLearn about local environmental issues\n\n\n\nSupport environmental and Indigenous-led initiatives\n\n\n\n\nVisit Earth Day resources for a variety of activities for early learning programs to engage in.

The webinar\, Reclaiming Indigenous Understandings of Autism and Neurodivergence\, is scheduled for April 30\, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. CST. \n\n\n\nIndigenous peoples remain significantly underrepresented in autism research\, policy\, and practice. Highlights include presentations that reflect Indigenous ways of knowing and being\, and that offer tools\, strategies\, or reflections educators can take back to their programs. \n\n\n\nRegional Network Information\n\n\n\nRegional Networks are comprised of supervisors\, coordinators and educators of First Nation Early Learning Programs located in each of the 4 regions of the province. The establishment and sustainability of these networks was identified as a priority by First Nations. The networks support the delivery of high quality\, culturally appropriate programs and services. The benefits of regional networks include information sharing\, knowledge exchange\, skills development\, collaborative problem solving and solution-finding for common issues.
